Are you feeling exhausted for no apparent reason after commuting from your bed to the couch? Is the gloomy news cycle too much to bear? Are you missing spending time with your loved ones? If you answered yes to any of these, you’re not alone. Pandemic exhaustion is real, so real in fact that 77% of Americans say the global coronavirus crisis is affecting their sleep. We’re more stressed than ever, causing our minds to run wild at night and negatively disrupting our ability to get to sleep and stay asleep. The next day inevitably brings with it a crankier-than-usual mood and a productivity struggle, which feeds this vicious stress and sleep deprivation cycle. While getting daily exercise, stretching regularly, practicing meditation, eating right, limiting alcohol and getting face time with loved ones (even if it is digitally) are all great habits to get into to alleviate stress and improve your nightly slumber, sometimes it’s still not enough. Hello CBD or Cannabidiol, one of the most prevalent cannabinoids, which is also non-intoxicating, found in hemp. If you haven’t yet gotten on the CBD train, you’ll find some people are adding it to their daily self-care routine especially since the world feels a little rocky. Here’s a quick rundown on how CBD may help support a healthy response to stress and encourage that sense of balance you’re looking for* — as well as what to look out for when choosing a supplement. The cortisol cycle: why it screws with your sleep The stress hormone cortisol typically rises and falls in a 24-hour cycle. For most people, it’s usually highest around 8am and lowest after midnight. When you feel stressed, your body may respond by releasing extra cortisol which can leave you feeling wired, underslept, anxious and lethargic. CBD may support a sense of calm and balance How and why CBD works is complex. But what we do know is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), endocannabinoids such as Anandamide, also known as “The Bliss Molecule”, and CBD can be an important part of supporting overall sense of calm and balance.* Stress takes a toll on our bodies including the ECS. But when we can break the stress cycle and get back to balance, we know we all feel better and ready to tackle the day. What to look for on on the packet when choosing CBD Picking out a CBD supplement can be extremely overwhelming as there are literally thousands of products to choose from. Last year Brightfield Group released findings that indicated that the CBD industry in the US is predicted to grow to $23.7 billion by 2023 meaning we’ll see even more products on shelves. When it comes to CBD supplements, separating the wheat from the chaff can be a minefield. Some things you should look for so you know you are going with a good quality product include: ● Made from pure, potent and sustainably farmed hemp ● Grown in the USA ● Transparency within the products. Products should be tested by independent labs so that you know what’s inside. Look for the potency of the CBD, the other cannabinoids, as well as purity. You will typically find these on websites using the language “COA” or Certificate of Analysis or “Lab Results” ● Derived from the entire plant so you get the full spectrum of the cannabinoids ● Chemical and solvent-free processes ● Particle size — The smaller or finer, the better as it helps your body absorb the benefits* Unlike many CBD supplements on the market, Liveli checks every single one of these boxes. Our hemp is pressed into a fine nano powder without any chemicals or solvents in our process to create pure and potent CBD for maximum enjoyment, relaxation and supporting balance and a healthy response to stress.
